Outstanding. Thanks for sharing. I just recently spent time with my old man. We don’t get along. I tried real hard again but realize its not worth it. Luckily my mom and I are very close but she hates it when the old man and i fight. I’m glad I at least tried. I’m not sure why I’m typing this comment. So I will stop.

Best regards.

I learned so many life lessons from my dad. If you knew him you loved him. My mom passed on Oct 25th, 1985. This really spoke to the heart. Thank you

Thanks for sharing this, JJ. Your father passed two days before Black Monday. That must have been a surreal chapter.

"It didn’t change anything...."

Ugh... Loved ones being unable to open that door to intimacy, even at death's doorstep...the bane of my existence. It forces you to reconcile two equally unpleasant possibilities about humanity: either we're all potentially permanent victims of trauma with no ability to change, or we're all capable of choosing icy cold aloofness to our closest loved ones intentionally. I suppose a third possibility is that the Creator simply has a macabre, twisted sense of humor.

To all the Fathers 🦁💛🥂

All true, sir. McMurtry said it perfectly: "Terms of Endearmant"

When I was young I never complained. I left.

When I got older I understood it better. Then I embraced it.

Finally I was one and I became it.

To all the the fathers.

My father turns 101 in November. He served in the Royal Australian Airforce in WWIi, searching for U Boats. He also served in politics, with the respect of both sides of the House. Upon resigning he recommenced an objectively brilliant and honourable legal career. He reflected a few months ago that his life had not amounted to much 🙄. He is part of an extraordinary generation and I am immensely proud of him.

There were entire years that went with a word. I guess I got lucky. The trip to Normady had an impact.
