Thank you for sharing fond memories of your Dad. I would love to have really known my Dad (who was an Army Despatch Rider at Dunkirk) but my parents divorced and he was a relative stranger to me. You have cause to be thankful Sir.

A post I can relate to, my father "was in Italy" during the war, never quite got the 'ins and outs' of that mission. He was fond of Italy and later violence in movies or world reports shook him visibly. We were not on handshakes and "Sie" but pretty much that sort of thing, yet he never opened up on his story. You were not only born on the 'good' side but got to meet your father, good for you!

My dad D+17, Austrian refugee, went back with 3rd Armored Division, passed at 100 5 years ago. Miss him terribly.
