Little darling
It's been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling
It feels like years since it's been here.

So many lines from history came to mind yesterday. Of course: “Free at last,” in honor of MLK. And the gleeful: “Ding dong, the witch is dead,” keeping light the zeitgeist and spiritus mundi that bathed the mood of a nation in victory. Although I was not born to witness the fruits of “Home alive in 45,” or VE day or VJ day, it was that kind of day for millions of Americans.

The highlight for me was after the indoor parade in the Oval office, where the President signed hundreds of executive orders wiping away the last four years and conducted an entirely candid, unrestricted press conference, taking any and every question on any and every subject, demonstrating his depth of understanding, plain-spoken transparency, and command. In those moments, it was clear his campaign promises were not political, or threats to anyone, or contrived to pander. They were an expression of the voter’s will. Perhaps even the will of a higher power. We shall see!

So now the pendulum of power has swung swiftly into a new era. I will not forget the stone-faced bitterness and subtle rage of the opposition. Michelle’s absence, Bush’s smirking mockery, the Clintons… the evil-doers will always lurk. Of course, they will try to kill Trump again. They are no less powerful individuals today than yesterday. However, already the narratives have shifted from “convicted felon” to making Butler, Pennsylvania, a sacred place of national honor and poof! Power ages quickly without leadership.

So…What will yesterday mean for the markets? Let’s begin.
