I've long thought that "market news" spread like the waves emanating from a pebble dropped in a pool, always understanding that I was some distance from the center, which meant that I was getting the "news" later than other people. This understanding kept me cautious about reacting to "news."

Hi Scott ... great question , sir...

I try not to listen to X posters and half truths. A flip from -200 mmtoz to + 750 mm toz is a 950 million ounce single source net buy order! That is impossible. In my opinion most of the finacial stuff on social media is paid for by someone with an axe.

The trasnasaction at $80/toz = $80billion USD. Let's think it through...Even JPM doesn't have $80 billion lying around to spec in silver. Where would it come from. Would they issue bonds? Suck out of the private credit markets? That kind of activity would flood X with facts.... Raising 80 billion would mean paying a steep premium in credit markets which in banking telegraphs potential systemic issues even for a few basis point...shit would hit the fan. Might start a Lehman cascade. not gonna happen, imo.

A 5 billion loss is a bag of shells for JPM. Back in the post GFC days a trader named Bruno Iksil lost 6 billion on credit swaps... he was the original "whale"... it's not chump change but it's not big.

TOTAL global silver mine production in 2025 is approximately 830–835 million ounces. Buffett took over year trying to buy 130 mm toz and doubled the price. Personally I think the silver market is easily capable of meeting the claims of buyers at these higher prices. I just wonder if anyone is going to want pay $80 or $100 for it when the ounces show up... and the ounces will show up. Hope this helps!

I really wonder why quality mining stocks are loosing in this environment

Leslie Philipp's avatar

Why do you ask that?

I’m seeing quality miners way up on the year, and the past few years. Gold miners especially.

ty for the post, james. Good to know... . I think is says as much about saftey on Crypto platforms. I have a few toys on Coinbase but I never "trade" there... The CME has command center for adjusting glitch prices if reported in a timely way. Same thing on NYSE & Nasdaq ...
