In the news
Not a lot of happy talk on the wires this week. MSM slathered the cycle with race porn over the Penny verdict and a relentless 6th day of covering the CEO murder. I deliberately did not mention Assad yesterday because I wanted to read about it.
What I learned was quite fascinating. The new leader of Syria, Abu Mohammed Al-Jolani’ was (still is?) an ISIS outlaw with a $10 million dollar bounty on his head in 2017 when Trump was erasing ISIS from existence. At the time it was a very popular mission because this dude was chopping off heads like the corner butcher in Brooklyn and posting the horror of it online.
I couldn’t find any reports of conflict between Assad and Israel at all online. That does not mean they don’t exist. However, Israel and Jolani’s HTS are fighting today. Iran and HTS are enemies and Iran and Israel are enemies so that would make either one of them the enemy of each other. Iran and Russia are allies. Russia was an ally of Assad. We are in a state of enmity with Russia so the head chopper is now on our side but he’s fighting Israel who is our primary ally in the region. ycmtsu…Quoting President Biden this weekend, the fall of Assad was “a fundamental act of justice.” Trump said, “It’s not our fight.” You decide.
In financial news, yields on Chinese 10-year bonds made record lows today.
In the markets this morning
The highest volume of the session in gold yesterday was on the opening and took the starch out of lively rally. However, today’s session begins on a similar note with gold on the highs. Considering the dystopian array of news, I’m surprised gold is so chill.
Moving along, a friendly albiet stubborn technical view on natural gas and a rather deep dive into what’s bugging silver.
